Description
This is an Escape Room activity with an alien theme. The activity focuses on whole numbers place value (up to 6 digits). Students will answer questions about standard form, expanded form, word form, comparing numbers, and rounding.
An Escape Room is an adventure in which players solve a series of puzzles using clues, hints, and strategies to complete the objectives at hand.
In this Escape Room, students are presented with a situation. They are trapped in a space craft. In order to escape, they must solve 4 puzzles. Each puzzle gives them a key, which the teacher holds, and gives to each team as they successfully complete each puzzle.
The activity is designed to be played in small groups. Teacher forms teams. I suggest no more than 5 students in a team.

Escape Rooms are highly engaging for the students. Their task is to figure out clues in order to escape the room, in this case it is an alien space craft. They compete in teams which adds to the engaging nature of this game.
