Description
This is an Escape Room activity for multiplication. The activity focuses on multi-digit multiplication of whole numbers (4 digit by 1 digit and 2 digit by 2 digit) . Students will answer questions about multiplication strategies such as place value and area models.
An Escape Room is an adventure in which players solve a series of puzzles using clues, hints, and strategies to complete the objectives at hand.
In this Escape Room, students are presented with a situation. They are trapped in a lost castle guarded by dragons. In order to escape, they must solve 4 puzzles. Each puzzle gives them a key, which the teacher holds, and gives to each team as they successfully complete each puzzle.
The activity is designed to be played in small groups. Teacher forms teams. I suggest no more than 5 students in a team.
