<p>This Back to School math escape room activity targets multiple math skills. Questions include addition, subtraction, place value, and word problems. I have leveled the tasks to be used with multiple grade levels. Most appropriate for grades 2-4. Since this is a BACK TO SCHOOL activity some tasks are purely used for icebreakers so no math skills are used.</p>
<h3>BACK TO SCHOOL MATH ESCAPE ROOM</h3>
<p>An Escape Room is an adventure in which players solve a series of puzzles using clues, hints, and strategies to complete the objectives at hand.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>In this Escape Room, students are presented with a situation. It is the first day of school and they have been locked inside the auditorium and must open all locks so they can meet their teacher. In order to do so, they must solve 4 puzzles. Each puzzle gives them a key, which the teacher holds, and gives to each team as they successfully complete each puzzle.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Play in small groups. The teacher forms teams. I suggest no more than 5 students in a team.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Everything you need for this games has been provided. As a result, you don&#8217;t need to purchase any keys, locks, or anything of that sort.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Escape Rooms are highly engaging for the students. Their task is to figure out clues in order to escape the room, in this case they are escaping the devious plans of a gang of thieves. They ALSO compete in teams which adds to the engaging nature of this game.</p>
